Change - Bi-monthly on all aspects of higher education. (available online via Academic Search Elite).
Chronicle of Higher Education - Weekly newspaper on all aspects of higher education (available via LexisNexis Academic [University News category] with about 6 week delay).
Communications of the ACM - monthly from the Association for Computing Machinery covers issues in education and technology, including distance education (available online via ACM Digital Library).
Education Week - Daily update online of weekly on all aspects and levels of education (online).
EDUCAUSE Quarterly - Quarterly publication (formerly Cause/Effect) of EDUCAUSE on managing and using information resources on campus  (online).
EDUCAUSE Review - Bi-monthly on trends in education including but not restricted to technology (online)
New Directions for Higher Education - Quarterly, each issue dealing with a single topic.
New Directions for Teaching and Learning - Quarterly, each issue dealing with a single topic.

Note: Most major newspapers include regular coverage of education issues. The New York Times is particularly well known for its coverage in the field.

American Association for Higher Education - Discussion, publications, conferences, etc. on the changing nature of higher education
American Council on Education - Coordinating higher education association, with members including institutions and other higher education organizations; a forum for discussion of major issues in the field
Center for the Study of Higher Education - Research center at Penn. State's College of Education, looking at assessment of student affairs issues.
College Board - primarily, but not entirely, admissions and financial aid information.
Council for Higher Education Accreditation - "National advocate for self-regulation through accreditation;" includes links to the homepages of regional and specialized/professional accrediting associations.
EDUCAUSE - Working for change in higher education through the use of information resources and technologies in teaching, learning, institutional management, etc.
National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities - Research and advocacy for  the private sector
National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges - Research and advocacy for the public sector; includes links to member institutions
National Center for Education Statistics - Statistics maintained by U.S. Department of Education
National Center for Higher Education Management Systems - The latest managerial concepts and tools available for working college and university administrators.
National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education - Analysis of state and federal policies. affecting post-secondary education.
National Education Association: Higher Education - Useful links to sources, as well as discussion of current issues.
Nationally Recognized Accrediting Agencies - Directory maintained by US Department of Education includes contact information and brief description of agencies recognized by the federal government.
US Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education - Information for students and for practitioners.

Note: Almost all colleges and universities have homepages which can be useful sources of information on the institution. The University of Florida maintains a directory.  Also, many state agencies responsible for higher education are online. Check the list developed by the National Education Association as a starting point, but check with your local department as well.

There are hundreds of organizations devoted to advocacy, research, policy development, etc. in higher education. Consult the annual Encyclopedia of Associations, including the Regional, State and Local Organizations volume for information, frequently including email and web site listings. The encyclopedia is available in most libraries.
