A University for Hartford,
A University for the World
A SHORT HISTORY OF THE
UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD

Bibliographical Note

1971

President Woodruff, Provost David Komisar
(center) and William Mortensen
move books from Auerbach Hall into
the new library.

Most of the works cited in the text may be found in the archives of the University of Hartford, located in the Mortensen Library. They include a 250-page manuscript history by Alice Cooke Brown, who chaired the History Department of Hillyer College, and who completed the manuscript in 1959. It is supplemented by an additional manuscript, Glimpses into the History of Hartford and Its University, of 1960. Published materials used for the present text include:
Coote, Albert W. Four Vintage Decades. Hartford: Huntington. 1970.
Fuller, Alfred C. A Foot in the Door. New York: McGraw Hill. 1960.
Weber, Nicholas Fox. Patron Saints. New York: Alfred A. Knopf. 1992.

We remind alumni and friends of the University that we are always interested in adding to the archives letters, articles, photographs, and reminiscences, or any other material that will keep the story of the University complete and remembered.
