Although the semester was a busy one, the Harrison Libraries Outreach Committee organized a few outreach initiatives for the University community. Because of its location in a high-traffic area, the new Reference Desk in the Mortensen Library provides an ideal space for displays. Some of the more notable displays from this past semester highlighted National Craft Month (March), National Library Week (April 8–14), and Law Day (May 1).
The new Reference Desk was also perfect for our Blind Date with a Book initiative, just in time for Valentine’s Day. To round out the semester, on May 10, we collaborated with the Student Government Association and the Commuter Student Association for a stress relief event with our favorite therapy dog, Wrigley. The event included snacks, coloring, games, and student survival kits. During finals week, we also highlighted our traditional stressbusters for students —candy and chocolate bars, puzzles, and coloring pages. We look forward to more offerings for the fall semester.
