Subject Guides
UH Libraries Subject Guides
The University of Hartford Libraries Subject Guides are a valuable resource for starting research, learning about resources,
finding general call number sections, and more. There are currently over 70 guides on a wide range of topics, covering all
primary areas of study at the University of Hartford. These resources are carefully selected by UHL librarians to offer
the best resources available in each subject. To find a subject guide, either browse the
Subject Guide List or use the search box in the top right corner of this page. The primary types of resources listed in
the guides are as follows:
Books
There are both print and online books listed in the guides. Clicking on the titles for online books will take you directly
to the book, while clicking on the title of a print book will take you to the catalog record for that book.
Call Numbers
Many of the guides list call number ranges for areas within that topic. Use these call numbers to browse the library shelves
when you have a general idea of what you want, but don't have a specific item in mind.
Databases
This category includes subscription databases available only to UH students, faculty, and staff, and those available freely
on the internet.
Periodicals
The periodicals listed here may be available in print, online, or both. As we update the guides, there will be links to guide
you to the available formats.
Subject Headings
Use these subject headings to search by general topic in our catalog. Copy the
subject heading into the search box and use the drop down menu to search by "Subject". There are many more possible subjects
than what we have listed here, but these should get you started.
Websites
Fairly self explanatory. Just click on the link to access the website.
