Equipment for Checkout

All equipment listed below is available at the Allen Library for use by University of Hartford students, faculty, and staff. Also, see Equipment available at Mortensen Library.

The Allen Library staff can provide basic assistance with the use of this equipment. More in-depth questions about recording equipment and iPads should be directed to Lief Ellis, Hartt's Performing Arts Technology Specialist, at 860.768.5501 or rellis@hartford.edu. All overdue equipment for checkout will accrue fines of $2 per day. Equipment that is 2 weeks overdue will be billed additional fees for (1) the cost of replacing the item and (2) a non-refundable $15 long overdue fee (covers efforts to retrieve, search for, and replace item). If an item is returned, the replacement cost will be forgiven or refunded (up to one year after the billing date), but the $15 long overdue fee and the daily overdue fees will still be assessed.

Audio Recorders (Zoom H4n)

These are standalone recording devices that can record audio either onto an SD card or directly onto a computer.

Camcorders (Panasonic HC-X920M and HC-V750)

These are HD camcorders that can record onto an SD card or directly onto a computer. They record high-quality video and medium-quality audio.

iPads (2nd Generation)

The iPads are loaded with many paid and free apps, focusing on those that are valuable for the performing arts.

Loan Period: Due either the same day at closing or in three days, depending on need and availability. Consult an Allen Library supervisor for longer loan periods, such as for conferences or special class projects.

Laptops (Lenovo ThinkPad)

The ThinkPad laptops include the full Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher.

MacBooks

The MacBooks include full versions of Finale and Sibelius, in addition to other valuable tools.

Mac USB SuperDrive

This connects to any Mac system via USB cable to play discs such as CDs and DVDs.

MIDI Keyboards (Oxygen8 V2)

These keyboards connect to a computer with USB cord for software that accepts midi input, such as Garage Band.

USB Microphones (Yeti)

These microphones can be connected to a computer or iPad for recording purposes.

Equipment for Use in Library

All equipment listed below is available for anyone to use inside the Allen Library.

Cassette Players

Cassette players are available at three listening stations, in three listening/viewing rooms, and in both seminar rooms.

CD/Media Players

CD/Media players (CD, Bluetooth, USB) are available at three listening stations, in three listening/viewing rooms, in both seminar rooms. Disc drives are also available at twelve computer stations.

Copier

One photocopier is available that can copy to either 8.5"x11" (letter) or 11"x17" paper. Double-side copying is available. Copies are $0.10/page for single sided and $0.20/page for double sided. Payment must be made with HawkCASH on either a University ID or a guest copier card. Cards can be refilled at Mortensen Library.

Desktop Computers

All computers run Mac OS X and include the Microsoft Office Suite and a number of music tools. See full list of software

DVD/VHS and Blu-ray Players

DVD and VHS players and Blu-ray players are available in three listening/viewing rooms and in both seminar rooms. Disc drives are also available at twelve computer stations.

LP Turntables

LP turntables are available at three listening stations, in three listening/viewing rooms, and in both seminar rooms.

Printers

Printing is available from all desktop computers. Standard 8.5"x11" (letter) printing and 11"x17" printing is $0.05/page. Payment must be made with HawkCASH on either a University ID or a guest copier card. Cards can be refilled at Mortensen Library.

Scanner

The scanner is able to send documents via email or save to USB drive. All scanning is free.
