Classrooms & Collaboration Spaces

Mortensen Library – KF Classroom
The Libraries and the University’s Presidents’ College share the KF Classroom. The room is intended for library and Presidents’ College classroom instruction, meetings, lectures and other functions, and may be reserved by faculty for single class sessions where access to the available equipment is desired. Equipment in this room includes:

  • Smart podium for instructor with PC, Apple TV, VHS, and DVD players
  • Echo 360 Lecture Capture
  • Ceiling mounted projector, controlled from the podium
  • Symposium “interactive pen” display
  • SynchronEyes computer controller software
  • “Mimeo board” and white board
  • Collaborative computers (4) with network connections and MS Office
  • Webcam installed
  • Additional licensed software may be installed by prior arrangement

Mortensen Library – Woods Family Classroom
The Libraries and the University’s Faculty Center for Learning Development share the Woods Family Center for Learning and Instruction, located on the main level of Mortensen. The classroom portion of the Center is intended primarily for library instruction and FCLD training, but may be reserved by faculty for single class sessions where access to the available equipment is desired. Equipment in this room includes:

  • Smart podium with SmartBoard for instructor with PC, Apple TV, VHS, and DVD players
  • Ceiling mounted projector, controlled from the podium
  • Symposium “interactive pen” display
  • Headphones with microphone
  • Respondus
  • iMac (1) with O/S 10
  • Student computers (15) with network connections and MS Office
  • Webcam available at Circulation Desk
  • Additional licensed software may be installed by prior arrangement

Mortensen Library Collaboration Spaces

  • C-Pods (Collaboration Pods), located on the main level near the icommons desk, the C-Pods consist of three keyboards, three mice, one CPU (full ITS functionality) and one 42" screen for viewing by up to three collaborators. Only one user at a time, but each keyboard and mouse is live. The C-Pods are available on a first-come first-served basis. However, the University Libraries staff will regulate use by time or purpose at its discretion during busy times.
  • Collaboration Room 310, located on the upper level, is intended primarily for small group research purposes. The room key must be charged from Circulation Department. See the complete Room 310 Usage Policy.
  • C-Pods Rooms 311-314, located on the upper level, includes  one large screen monitor, two keyboards, and two mice. Each room is equipped with ports and plugs for laptops and other devices. The rooms are first-come, first-served with no time restrictions for use. However, the University Libraries staff will regulate use by time or purpose at its discretion during busy times.
  • Presentation Room 309, located on upper level includes seminar table for up to 10 people, projector and Smart Podium. The room key must be charged from Circulation Department. See the complete Room 309 Usage Policy.
  • Curriculum Lab, located n upper level), located on upper level includes seminar table for up to 10 people, projector and Smart Podium. The room key must be charged from Circulation Department. Available on a first-come, first-served basis. At times, room may be reserved by Education Department faculty.

Allen Library

  • Seminar Room, a teaching seminar room fitted with a full complement of listening and viewing equipment, is available to faculty for classes and lectures. Contact the Allen Public Services Librarian (860.768.4770) for additional information or to reserve the room.
